HP finally began to explore the tablet market. At an event in San Francisco, HP showed a tablet called the HP touchpad. The presence of these products are highly competitive in the world not only confirms the tablet of the product, but the platform.

The reason, HP’s touchpad will bring the operating system called WebOS. If you remember, WebOS is an operating system developed by Palm and introduced via the mobile phone and Palm Palm Pre Pixi. However, since Palm HP bought last year, WebOS practical “on leave” from the operating system arena. Well, this is a new touchpad, WebOS comes back.

From the screenshots that HP, WebOS appearance relatively unchanged to show. The front page is the Quick Launch bar contains shortcuts to frequently used applications, including Web browsers, e-mail, instant messenger, and gallery. While the application is running in the background (FYI, WebOS supports multitasking) is displayed in the form of “cards”.

HP touchpad itself has a size 9.7-inch screen with 1024 x 768. These specifications are the same as Apple iPad, but not as high as Motorola Xoom that a resolution of 1280 x 800 has. The processor uses Qualcomm APQ8060 which is two-core processor with a speed of 1.2 GHz. The touchpad itself is not a mobile device because it only relies on WiFi as a connection to the Internet. But HP’s promise of a touchpad can synchronize your smartphone on WebOS.

Speaking of smartphones, at the same time HP also released two new smartphones based WebOS, namely HP pre3 and Spring. Pre3 is a smartphone for the corporate segment 3.58 inch and a physical keyboard provides. Although Palm Spring is a small device the size of the hand with one pair was still a physical keyboard.

WebOS Tablet OS version has features including a reporting system that can suddenly arise from the top of the screen, multitasking applications “table”, a QWERTY keyboard on the screen that is easy to manage, and new features “touch-to-share” that allows users to share web pages with fellow users quickly located next webOS smartphone.
