The Fujifilm FinePix E500 is a 4.1-megapixel compact digital camera that comes from the end of 2004. This was introduced as a basic model in the range which is also five-megapixel E510 and E550 six-megapixel camera, which in addition to a resolution very similar. E500 is no longer available new, but very easy to take the former with a low price, and still worth a look, especially if the wide appeal.

Optics

Fujifilm has a slightly different approach than the 2004 standards – which is a 3x zoom lens offers a range equivalent to about 35-105 mm film camera. In contrast, E500 offers 3.2x zoom and much wider range of 28-91 mm. Some cheap digital camera can match the wide angle capabilities of the time, and even now 28 mm lens is rare at this level. This provides additional flexibility for the landscape or interior shots. The lens is an average light, ranging from f/2.9 at wide angle end to f/5.5 at full telephoto. In both cases, f / 8 is as far as you can go the other way. Shutter speed can be from 1 / 1000 second to 2 seconds, which makes sense, although not attractive offer. There are two macro modes, which allows the poet to get within 3 inches of your subject.

Building

This camera is a budget model, and it does not show the time in physical development. The body is silver and gray plastic, and although you would not call it thin it split a little worried when there is a lot of pressure. Combined battery door / compartment of annoying memory card is inserted at the bottom, and has an awkward catch. (Speaking of memory, E500 using small xD card format, which is still available new, but slowly rare.) Finally, the rubber cover for USB and DC ports is not really attached to the camera, so they ping can be completely disabled if you are not careful, so leave the port exposed to the elements. On the plus side, the handle is big enough and robust, providing sufficient collateral.
